Increase in Death Certificate Cost

The cost of obtaining a death certificate has recently increased from £4 to £11 for each certificate.

An original certified copy death certificate must be sent to every institution in which the deceased held assets and liabilities in order to confirm the death and obtain authority to act in the estate.

This will have a substantial impact on those estates where there are a number of assets and liabilities.

Even in a small estate the relatives may require up to 10 death certificates; an increase from £40 to £110.
