On 1 April 2013 the reforms to civil litigation costs proposed by Lord Justice Jackson come into force. These are contained in the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (LASPO) and will be incorporated into the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
The changes will significantly affect the way civil litigation is funded, cost managed and budgeted.
Non compliance with the new rules will incur draconian penalties and will result in successful parties not being able to recover costs.
